by Enock Ndayala

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sensationally claimed that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga did not apply to be the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential flag bearer.

Kalonzo who is eying to be Raila’s presidential running mate said he should not be coerced to apply for the Azimio’s running mate position when the ODM leader Raila Odinga did not apply to be the coalition’s flag bearer.

“If we were to tell each other the truth and everyone in our team knows the right thing to do. I do not understand why anyone would ask me to apply for the position of running mate. Did Raila apply to be the flag bearer?” Kalonzo posed.

Speaking to KTN News on Wednesday, April 27, the former vice president said that it is obvious he is the choice for the running mate position.

The Wiper leader further stated that should Raila fail to pick him as his presidential running mate, he will suffer a blow by losing the majority of votes from the Ukambani region.

“Truth be told, it will be difficult to access the votes in Ukambani,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo exuded confidence that the Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya Coalition party will form the next government if he will be picked as Raila’s presidential running mate.

“I don’t want to pre-judge the issue but I still think Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka is a ticket you can’t defeat in terms of quality and experience,” he said.

This comes at a time when the Azimio la Umoja has picked a panel of seven most experienced politicians and clergy to help in identifying the best running mate for Raila Odinga.

The team consists of; Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Senator Enoch Wambua, Michael Orwa, seasoned politician Noah Wekesa, Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, and Beatrice Askul Moe.
