Kalonzo takes on Ruto for planning Uganda trip without Uhuru’s permission

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has faulted DP William Ruto for planning his Uganda trip without President Uhuru’s permission.

Speaking during a church function in Ukambani on August 8, Kalonzo urged the Deputy President to admit he was wrong.

Having served as the Vice President during Kibaki’s reign, Kalonzo said that it is government protocol for Ruto to seek Uhuru’s permission before leaving the country.

The former vice president went ahead to explain that seeking Uhuru’s permission before traveling is for the purposes of order and security.

“Truth be told I was a vice president for five years but there was no way I would have left the boundaries of this country without the permission of President Mwai Kibaki,

“It does not work that way. So I am telling Deputy President to come out clear because on this one, he did not get it right,” Kalonzo Musyoka said.

The former vice president went ahead to explain that seeking Uhuru’s permission before traveling is for the purposes of order and security.

This comes after DP William Ruto challenged the government for following up on his travels, even private ones.

“This is the work of a few state officials out to push me for a confrontation with the president, but I have refused,” Ruto said in an interview on Inooro TV.

However, DP Ruto’s trip to Uganda was not only aborted due to lack of Uhuru’s permission, but also a person of interest who was in his entrouge.

The government of Kenya has derived interest in a Turkish man named Harun Aydin, who is linked to terrorism financing.

Harun, who was meant to accompany Ruto to Uganda was arrested at the Wilson Airport on Saturday, August 7.

He was detained by the Anti-terror police unit and is still undergoing interrogations.

William Ruto has protested Aydin’s arrest, accusing the government of settling political scores using the entrepreneur.

“Turkish investor,Aydin Harun, is a victim of top-down arrogance bred by patronage & cartels that criminalize enterprise,

Importers’ goods declared contraband, Africa spirits closed, Keroche harassed, now an investor with valid papers labelled terrorist. Tragedy of political pettiness,” the DP wrote in a tweet.
