Kandara MP Alice Wahome has said Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has made it hard for the ODM leader Raila Odinga to climb Mt Kenya region in search of votes ahead of their 2022 titanic battle.
Wahome, who also baptised William Ruto with a Kikuyu name ‘Kamau’, said that every time the opposition leader tries to climb the mountain, the deputy president moves the mountain complicating matters for the former Prime Minister.
“The biggest problem facing Raila Odinga today is that he is fighting very hard to climb the mountain but every time he reaches quarter way, William Kamau Ruto moves the mountain. Hard!” she said in a Facebook post.
The 2022 presidential frontrunners William Ruto and Raila Odinga have sustained their political forays to market themselves to the more than five million voters in the region in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s succession race.
With the 2022 General Election fast approaching, both the deputy president and Raila Odinga have been boasting about how they have taken control of the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.
Three weeks ago, an opinion poll released by Mizani Africa showed that William Ruto can beat bitter rival Raila Odinga for Mt Kenya presidential vote.
The survey conducted between 1st October to 13th October 2021 across 11 Counties of the Mt Kenya region showed that the deputy president is the most preferred Presidential candidate followed by Raila.
The survey showed that a whopping 58.2 percent of Mt Kenya residents said they will vote for a William Ruto presidency if the 2022 General Elections are now.
The survey further showed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party heavily associated with William Ruto is the most preferred political party in the Mt Kenya region.
