The man of God later showed up the following day saying he was not given any cash by the gubernatorial hopeful adding that it would be so hard to convince the electorates to understand.

According to a source who spoke to Tuko.co.ke said the residents pressed the Bishop to reveal where he had hid the cash in vain.

“He just sustained minor injuries due to the stampede, but yesterday he came out and denied that he was given the handout,” a witness said.

Apart from spending millions on billboards in a bid to lure voters, political aspirants are secretly dishing out handouts to win over the voters.

This according to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has led to violence witnessed during political rallies across the country.

According to the super CS, this has thwarted the efforts by the National Police Service (NPS) to provide security in political gatherings.

“What is frustrating us is the behavior of some of our political leaders. The endemic false promising that is happening around the country, the incredible amount of bribing that is going on,” the CS said.

Last month, Mombasa UDA coordinator, Mohammed Tenge, landed him in trouble after he tried to run away with some undisclosed amount of money that Deputy President William Ruto had given him to mobilize the local residents to attend his rally in Mvita.
