Jubilee party has kicked out Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatngi as the Majority Chief Whip in the Senate.

“He ceases to hold any leadership position in any committee of the Senate that he currently holds by virtue of being a member of Jubilee Party,” said Jubilee secretary-general Jeremiah Kioni.

The Jubilee party however gave Wamatangi room to challenge the decision.

“In the event that the party does not receive your representation on the deadline… speaker of the Senate will be notified of this record and further action,” the letter added.

Over the weekend, Wamatangi, who was termed as the last man standing from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region decamped from Jubilee to UDA where he will be contesting for Kiambu governor in the August 9 General Election.

“My feet are burning; I have come here running because this is where I need to be. I have consulted mama mboga’s at the marketplace, and wazee’s in their farms, church leaders, and my family, and all have assured me that UDA is the best place to be,” he said.

But speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, March 17, Wamatangi said he had been summoned to Statehouse and was ready for any consequences.

“I received a text that is inviting me this morning and it is very clear that all elected leaders from the Mt Kenya region are the invitees. I know I am not the agenda but if my dewhipping comes, I am ready for it,” he said.

State House later clarified that there was no such meeting between President Uhuru and elected leaders from Mt Kenya region.
