Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni Wa Muchomba has said that no love has been lost between her and Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta even after she shifted loyalty to Deputy President William Ruto.
Wa Muchomba said she still can talk to Uhuru Kenyata since he is her president and that she still respects him only that he abandoned her and several others who supported him.
Speaking during an interview with Inooro TV on Wednesday, August 18, Wa Muchomba if President Uhuru called she would instantly go even if she was seated next to Deputy President William Ruto.
“If he (Uhuru) picked his phone and called to ask for me, I would go even if I was sitting at William Ruto’s home. I would go because we love him (President Uhuru). We respect him, he is our president. He is the one who abandoned us,” she said.
The former radio presenter, who was an ardent defender of President Uhuru in June 2022 pulled a surprise move and joined DP Ruto’s side whose relationship with Uhuru has been frosty.
While defending her change of allegiance from President Uhuru to William Ruto’s camp, Wa Muchomba maintained that she joined Tanga Tanga at the behest of her constituents who said they owe Ruto a promise for the presidency.
“I have changed my loyalty from President Uhuru’s government and I am going to support (deputy President) William Ruto’s camp. My instincts tell me as a politician, I should follow my people, and that is what I am doing,” she said in an address to journalists on Monday, June 28.
She further accused the Jubilee party leader of abandoning her and listening to a few party members who made critical decisions for a political vehicle she strongly fought for.
