Kikuyu MP threatens to report Raila Odinga to Hague

by Enock Ndayala

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah has castigated opposition leader Raila Odinga for rejecting President William Ruto’s proposal to solve Raila’s demands in Parliament.

Ruto had proposed for dialogues with the opposition to be held within parliament in a bipartisan manner, a move that the opposition has seriously rejected.

The former Prime Minister instead wants talks similar to those that ended post-election violence in 2008 and ushered in a national unity government.

As such, the veteran politician has warned of fresh protests if the Kenyan government did not take the opposition’s demands seriously.

“We shall go back to the people at the earliest sign of lack of seriousness by the other side,” Raila said in his latest media interview.

However, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah has threatened to write to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s political agenda.

“I will propose an agenda in Parliament, that we write to ICC to take measures to ensure that Raila Odinga and his sponsors do not slide our country back into anarchy,” Ichungwah said.

Ichungwah who doubles up as the Majority leader in the National Assembly further rejected the National Accord route proposed by Raila.

He accused the ODM party leader of harboring selfish interests to benefit himself by trying to get into the government.

“He is threatening that if we don’t agree to the National Accord proposal, he will continue with the mass action. We want to tell Raila that we don’t have any problems with you conducting mass demonstrations. The only caveat is you do it peacefully,” he said.

However, in a quick rejoinder, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said Kenya Kwanza leaders were at liberty to report Raila to ICC adding that such threats will not deter the opposition from pushing for justice.

“One thing I truly admire about these Kenya Kwanza clowns like Ichungwah is their audacity. Who are you scaring with ICC? Write all the letters you want. If Ruto got away with all the overwhelming evidence. That court will never jail anyone. Andika barua nitakupa stamp,” Sifuna said in a tweet.
