Kilifi county ODM boss sends warning to governor after endorsing Raila Odinga

by Nderi Caren

Kilifi County ODM chairman Teddy Mwambire has sent a warning to his predecessor Amason Kingi after making an about-turn and endorsed Raila Odinga for 2022 Presidency.

In a press address on Tuesday, December 14, Mwambire said Kingi is free to endorse Raila Odinga but should keep off ODM matters in the region, considering the fact he was removed from the party’s leadership.

He told the former Kilifi County ODM chairman that his reign as the Party’s supremo in the region ended when Raila Odinga ousted him after which he forrmed his Pamoja African Alliance(PAA) party.

“Governor Kingi ditched the party, and now there is a new spokesperson in the region. We invite him to campaign for Raila Odinga but he should know that Kilifi is an ODM zone, not PAA (Pamoja Alliance Party),” said Mwambire.

He assured Amason Kingi that Kilifi is still an ODM zone, hence he should keep off grassroots politics and only speak on the presidency.

“He can campaign for Raila Odinga, but I have the say here. People here will be elected on ODM tickets and not PAA, let him not lie to himself. If he wants change let him seek the presidency,” he said.

His warning comes after Amason Kingi endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga and revealed that his party will be fielding candidates in other electoral posts apart from the presidency.

“PAA will not field a presidential candidate in 2002 but will back Raila Odinga,” Kingi said at a rally in Kilifi on Saturday, December 11.

Months after falling out with the ODM supremo, Amason Kingi showed his change of mind by attending Raila’s National Azimio la Umoja meeting, when he declared that PAA is behind the ODM leader.

Amason Kingi fell out with Raila Odinga in August, leading to his removal from the Kilifi County ODM chairman seat and being replaced with Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire.
