Kimani Ichungwa: Uhuru Kenyatta only had time for insulting younger politicians

by Enock Ndayala

On Sunday, October 30, Kenya’s President William Ruto attended a church service in Murang’a County.

The Head of State was later seen hanging out with a section of UDA politicians from the region including Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro.

In a statement shared through his official social media pages on Monday, October 31, Ichungwa, who is also the National Assembly Majority leader, termed William Ruto as a “great mentor.”

While comparing Ruto to his predecessor now Rtd President Uhuru Kenyatta, the politician threw a shed at the Jubilee party leader saying that he had no time for anyone.

Unlike Ruto who has time to mentor other leaders, Ichungwa sensationally claimed that Uhuru had only time for insulting younger politicians.

“When you have an amazing President who has time to listen, guide, and mentor you even on a Sunday afternoon. The other one (Uhuru Kenyatta) had no time for anyone, mentored no one save for insulting everyone,” Ichungwa said.

Ichungwa’s comments were supported by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who said that President William Ruto was available to serve other Kenyans.

Gachagua who spoke on Monday, October 31, during the launch of an entrepreneurship program organized by the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) said Ruto was willing to meet anyone at any time to discuss issues affecting the country.

The former Mathira MP further said he and the president have no children they were bringing up neither were they looking for wealth but were just available for the Kenyans 24 hours for seven days.

“The President and I have no children we’re bringing up; we’re not looking for wealth. We are available to serve 24/7. That is why the president has issued a policy direction about time management. Anybody who keeps business people waiting will see his wrath,” Gachagua said.
