Kimilili MP claims Martha Karua wants to join President Ruto’s government

On Tuesday, January 17, President William Ruto alleged that there was a direct attempt to kill outgoing IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati during the 2022 elections.

Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential running mate Martha Karua on Thursday, October 20, said she does not recognize William Ruto as the president.

The Narc Kenya party leader who was speaking to BBC insisted that their victory differed and instated that she will explore all legal and constitutional avenues to ensure Ruto’s presidential victory is overturned.

“The law accepts him, not me. Our victory is deferred, but it’s coming home, and that is the message to everyone as we explore all legal and constitutional avenues,” Karua said.

However, in an interview with TV 47 on Monday, October 31, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa sensationally claimed that Karua’s remarks were aimed at finding her foot in the new regime.

“Martha Karua saying she does not recognize William Ruto as the president is a way of trying to find her foot in the government,” Kimilili MP said.

The vocal legislator further maintained that there was no room for Azimio losers.

Barasa, a close ally of President William Ruto instead said that Azimio poll losers to unite and be strong in putting the government on the toss.

The lawmaker who is facing murder charges further warned the opposition against petty politics and asked them to offer wisdom on things that they think are good for the country.

“We are saying that yes, we need objective opposition to the government of the Republic of Kenya led by President William Ruto,” the lawmaker said.

Barasa’s remarks come just hours after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua insisted that the government of the day will not tap Azimio poll losers including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The second in command said incorporating Raila and his allies into President Ruto’s government would curse the Kenya Kwanza government not to deliver on its promises to the Kenyans.
