Kisiang’ani: Mt Kenya tycoons cannot convince their staff to vote for Raila Odinga

by Enock Ndayala

William Ruto’s political adviser and strategist, Edward Kisiang’ani has dismissed the recent endorsement of the ODM leader by Mount Kenya Foundation (MKF) saying the group cannot persuade their employees to vote for Raila Odinga.

In a Tweet on Wednesday, September 29, Kisiang’ani said the MKF group consists of tycoons and elites who stay in posh areas where there are no votes to make someone the president.

The political analyst further said while Raila Odinga has the right to seek endorsement from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2022 elections, he should have gone to the voters, not power brokers.

William Ruto’s political adviser and strategist, Edward Kisiang’ani has dismissed the recent endorsement of the ODM leader by Mount Kenya Foundation (MKF) saying the group cannot persuade their employees to vote for Raila Odinga.

“Raila Odinga is perfectly in order to seek endorsement from the Mt Kenya tycoons for 2022. The only challenge these tycoons cannot even convince their employees to vote for Raila Odinga. There aren’t enough votes in Runda and Muthaiga to make one President,” he said.

Kisiang’ani said this just a day after the elite team of Mt Kenya billionaires and politicians from the vote-rich region endorsed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential candidature.

Top Mt Kenya tycoons backed Raila’s candidature even as they declared the beginning of a grand search for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor.

The elite group projected President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Handshake partner as the ideal successor to build on the foundation laid by the Head of State who is expected to hang his boots in August 2022.

MKF Vice-Chairman Titus Ibui hailed Raila saying he is the best person to occupy the House on the Hills as he will not only protect their businesses but also continue with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s development projects in the region.

“We want somebody who will take over and there will be continuity in the kind of development projects that have been started. Secondly, somebody who will not disturb our businesses and thirdly somebody who we can sit with and agree on how to go forward,” Ibui said.
