Kisumu Deputy Governor celebrates Raila as his hero ‘best president we will never have’

Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili on Thursday, October 20, led Mashujaa Day celebrations in the county as his boss, Anyang Nyong’o was out of the country.

The deputy governor said his hero was none other than Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

In his speech, Owili could not hold back his tears as he celebrated the former Prime Minister describing him as a hero to millions of Kenyans.

While addressing locals, Owili who was overwhelmed was forced to temporarily suspend his address for a minute to wipe the tears from his eyes as his emotions soared.

“As we mark the 59th Mashujaa Day fate, we celebrate another decorated shujaa – one of the best presidents we will never have – the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga,” Owili said.

It is worth noting that Raila who is out of the country for a week-long tour lost his fifth presidential attempt in the August 9, elections.

As such, the deputy governor termed Raila’s fifth presidential loss to President William Ruto as ‘painful.’

“You all know his painful story in the struggle and fight for democracy in this country,” he stated.

Owiti, a close ally of the former Prime Minister urged Kenyans to continue supporting the veteran politician.

He also advised netizens to emulate the 77-year-old and support one another, especially during the current harsh economic times.

“Nonetheless, it is all over. I want to let the people of Luo Nyanza know that your neighbor’s struggles must give you sleepless nights.

“If there is something you can do to improve the lives of others, please do,” he said.

The country through the National Heroes Council awarded 230 heroes for their efforts in telling the national story.
