Kisumu governor in trouble as 4 politicians combine to send him home

by Enock Ndayala

At least four opponents of Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o have agreed to put aside their ambitions and back one of them to face off against the professor in the August 9, General Election.

Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, former Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma, ousted Kisumu County speaker Onyango Oloo, and Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community Ken Obura announced that they will field one of them against the incumbent.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, February 1, the four front runners kept their cards secret leaving their supporters guessing who that candidate would be.

“Your prayers for us to produce one candidate who will restore the lost glory of Kisumu, who will allow our people to trade without fear or hindrance has been answered,

“We have heard your cry that we should produce one candidate to confront Peter Anyang Nyong’o,” said Onyango Oloo.

According to NTV, sources privy to discussions held yesterday said the four have chosen the young Ken Obura to give Governor Anyang Nyong’o a run for his money.

The source further revealed that it was agreed at the closed-door meeting that Obura’s official unveiling will take place after his resignation as CAS on February 9, 2022.

While challenging ODM leader Raila Odinga to hold free and fair party nominations, former Kisumu County Speaker Onyango Oloo stated that they will unveil the candidate in two weeks’ time.

“In the next few weeks ladies and gentlemen, we are going to present that candidate and he is one of us here,

“And in that event that that criterion is not met, we are prepared to confront Anyang Nyong’o at the ballot box,” Oloo told their supporters.

In a rejoinder, however, Governor Nyongo’s faction slammed the Obura-led faction for what they termed as ‘bad timing’.

“We want them to use that energy in voter listing and mobilization so that we can support the opposition chief Raila Odinga to win the presidential contest,” Anyang’ Nyong’o’s team said.
