Kisumu Woman rep takes on Aden Duale for saying he’s not her boyfriend

Kisumu Woman Rep Rosa Buyu has vowed to take action on Garissa Township MP Aden Duale over his ‘I am not your boyfriend’ slur in parliament on October 7.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, October 12, Rosa Buyu said Aden Duale has a tendency of insulting female leaders in the National Assembly.

The Kisumu Woman Representative termed Duale’s actions as a way of intimidating female leaders, giving them no room to articulate their debates in parliament.

“This not the first time this is happening. If you are discussing a national issue how does the issue of girlfriend and boyfriend come in?… That is a way of intimidating female leaders… It’s not the first time that happened, he’s done the same to Passaris, Millie… Every time a female legislator gets up when he is speaking, that’s the language he always uses,” Rosa Buyu said.

According to the Kisumu Woman Rep, Aden Duale issued an apology on the floor of the house, but he is not off the hook yet.

She promised to take unspecified actions against Duale, a close Ally of Deputy President William Ruto.

“I’m not satisfied and I’m going to take it up because even when he says let me apologize, he does not apologize,” Buyu said.

The Garissa Township MP caused unrest in parliament on October 7 after Rosa Buyu interrupted him for a moment.

“Don’t shout at me, I’m not your boyfriend, don’t shout at me. Shame on you! I’m not your boyfriend, shame on you and sit down, Madam Speaker you must protect me, I’m a ranking member,” Duale fired at the MP.

This is not the first time Aden Duale’s mouth is putting him in trouble.

On August 11, the former Majority leader was in trouble for comparing the catholic church to a cult.

“ODM is a cult where nobody can speak….its like the Catholic Church that has its own structures,” he said.
