Azimio la Umoja presidential running mate Martha Karua has dared Deputy President William Ruto and his allies to face her instead of sending youths to disrupt her rallies.

The Narc Kenya party leader nicknamed ‘Iron lady’ urged the Kenya Kwanza political camp to emulate how Azimio la Umoja is carrying out their campaigns.

Karua, who was speaking in Tharaka Nithi on Thursday, May 19, said if Ruto’s allies were brave enough, they should face her one-on-one instead of contracting youths to go and disrupt her in rallies.

“Kama uko na pesa badala ya kutuma vijana, wewe ingia, kuja unipokonye kipaza sauti. Sisi watu wa Azimio hatuwezi tumana kazi ambayo hatufanyi. Siwezi kutuma ukachafue mkutano. Kama ni kuchafua nichafue nikuonyeshe vile watu wanachafua,” Karua said amid cheers

Loosely translated to “If you have money instead of sending young people, you come in and take the microphone away from me. We in Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance cannot send youths to do what we cannot do ourselves. If you want to disrupt my rallies try and I will show you how I am good at that.”

She further warned young people against being misused by a few moneyed politicians in order to achieve their personal political gains in the build-up to the August 9, General Election.

She urged unemployed youths to be patient, saying their plight would be resolved by the Azimio la Umoja government as soon as it take over the reins of power from the Jubilee government.

The former Gichugu MP was speaking in reference to the recent scene where she encountered a hostile reception in some parts of Kirinyaga County during her homecoming after being named Raila’s running mate.

Raila Odinga and his entourage were also badly heckled in the same Kirinyaga county as he attempted to sell Azimio’s manifesto to the residents of Kirinyaga.
