Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru is under police investigations for allegedly assaulting some Kenyans opposed to William Ruto.

In a report by the Daily Nation on Friday, December 10, a woman identified as Lucy Wairimu Kariuki, 28, lodged a complaint with the police at Sipili Police Station claiming to have been assaulted by the Tanga Tanga lawmaker.

In the complaint, Wairimu claimed that Waruguru in the company of her bodyguards physically assaulted her and verbally abused her for allegedly having a differing political opinion.

“The lawmaker grabbed my hand and with the help of youths who had accompanied her led me to her vehicle. That is where she strangled me and assaulted me,” Wairimu said.

She said that trouble started when the lawmaker was heckled by residents during the DP’s stopover in Rumuruti town.

While confirming the incidence, Kirima Sub-County Police Commander Donald Sailor said that police were piecing together evidence and reviewing the occurrence of the incident that is reported to have occurred at Sipili trading centre.

“The lady made a complaint with the police on Thursday, December 9, claiming to have been arrested by the MP. Investigations will be launched with a view of establishing what really transpired,” Sailor said.

The police boss noted that Waruguru, who recently ditched President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party for UDA would be summoned to record a statement with the police for commencement of investigations.

On Tuesday, December 7, Deputy President William Ruto lost his cool in Laikipia county after rowdy youths heckled him as he championed his hustler nation narrative.

In a video seen by Kivumbi.co.ke, the 2022 presidential aspirant was heard lashing out at the youths while insisting no one should disrupt his event.

“Plan your own meeting, stop this stupidity…I will not accept it. You have come to heckle us here? Listen to me, if you do not want orderliness…please don’t come to heckle in my meeting. Everyone should organize his own meeting… this is mine,” William Ruto said amid commotion from the crowd.
