The late former President Mwai Kibaki’s grandson caused a scene on Saturday, April 30 after he refused to greet the ODM leader Raila Odinga in Othaya Nyeri during the burial of the former president.

A video doing rounds on social media platforms captured a dramatic scene when ODM leader Raila Odinga was greeting members of the late Mwai Kibaki family.

One of Kibaki’s grandsons who was last in line declined a handshake with the former Prime Minister by completely turning his back on him.

From the video, it’s clear that Kibaki’s grandson did not want to acknowledge the ODM leader in any way forcing Raila to just walk away.

However, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential candidate had greeted other members of the family, including Jimmy and Judy Kibaki without any issues.

When the ODM leader arrived at Othaya approved school, he went straight to where the casket of the late president had been placed to pay his respect.

After Raila finished performing the traditional Luo ritual on Mwai Kibaki’s casket as a way of paying tribute, the former prime minister proceeded to greet the members of the late Kibaki family.

During the National requiem mass yesterday there was another drama after a young man claiming to be the late Kibaki’s’grandson’ demanded to be given a chance to address the mourners.

Allan Makana had run to the dais and requested the bishop conducting the mass to accord him an opportunity to pay his tribute to his ‘grandfather’
“I need just two minutes to make a few remarks. Just two minutes I want to say something,” Makana was heard saying.

The bishop politely declined his request and asked the mass orderlies to gently escort him off the dais.

Makana would later be arrested for allegedly disrupting prayer mass for the late president.
