Lawyer Donald Kipkorir now claims Raila’s Supreme Court petition is weak

by Enock Ndayala

On Monday, August 22, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party captain Raila Odinga filed a petition challenging the result of the August 9 election that handed victory to his rival William Ruto.

In the 72-page petition, Odinga asked the Apex court to nullify the vote’s outcome on several grounds, including a mismatch between the turnout figures and the result.

The former Prime Minister further alleged that the election commission failed to tally ballots from 27 constituencies, rendering the result unverifiable and unaccountable.

On Monday, August 22, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party captain Raila Odinga filed a petition challenging the result of the August 9 election that handed victory to his rival William Ruto.

However, on Thursday, August 25, flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir claimed that the presidential petition presented to the Supreme Court in a lorry was too weak to overturn Chebukati’s declaration.

The flashy lawyer accused Raila’s closest friends of lying to him that everything was under control instead of working to prove that indeed his win was illegally denied.

“Raila Odinga was let down and betrayed by people closest to him and those who ran Azimio secretariat. They lied to him that they had everything under control,

“They lied all agents were in place and paid. Now, they are lying about Supreme Court case instead of working on it to be foolproof,” he said in a Tweet.

Speaking after filing the petition at the Supreme Court, Senior Counsel James Orengo said they had enough evidence that the August 9, General Election was marred with irregularities.

“I have participated in many petitions but his one, I can tell you, is a bombshell and we’ve got so many smoking guns. The conclusion is that we are going to have a determination in favor of Raila Odinga,” he stated.

While drumming up support for Azimio gubernatorial candidate in Mombasa, Raila said he has enough evidence that he won the presidential elections held on Tuesday, August 9.

“We are hopeful the court will rule in our favor because we have substantial evidence,” Raila said.
