Lawyers’ president says he will only represent clients who support William Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Lawyers’ President Nelson Havi now says he will only represent clients who support Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid after joining United Democratic Alliance.

Havi said even though it is his responsibility to defend anyone who has been arraigned in court, the Lawyers’ president said he will not represent any client who does not subscribe to the ideals of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party heavily associated with William Ruto.

“I cannot represent them. There are many lawyers out there who can represent anyone who has problems with the deputy president or UDA,” Havi told NTV on Monday, November 23.

The LSK president who recently said he will vie for Westlands Parliamentary in the 2022 General Election on a UDA ticket further said he is not only a member of the UDA but also a William Ruto’s general.

He said if a client will who does not believe in the UDA seeks his services, then other lawyers will take up the matter.

“I do not think we will have such a situation, but if it comes up another person can handle that,” he added.

Yesterday, Havi officially announced his move to join the Ruto-led UDA party from Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC).

Will officialising his affiliation to UDA, Havi denied reports that he was William Ruto’s machinery at the legal body.

“When I contested for the LSK presidency, many said I was sponsored by William Ruto. The people I had worked with in ODM said they do not want my leadership, but I won and served all lawyers,” Havi said.

While exuding confidence that he will succeed Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Havi said he was neither looking for greener pastures nor looking for an avenue where he would hide the monies has he stolen.

“I am not going to parliament because I am looking for money. I am not going to hide money I have stolen before. I have no flaws. I am capable of serving,” he stated.
