List of 7 project Uhuru Kenyatta will launch in Nyanza tour

President Uhuru Kenyatta will tour the Nyanza region on June 1 for the Madaraka day celebrations and launch 7 major projects.

During his visit, the Head of State is expected to commission the following projects;

1.        Kshh3.8 billion rehabilitated Nakuru-Kisumu Metre Gauge Railway

2.        Ksh3 billion refurbished Kisumu port

3.        Ksh350 million ultra-modern Uhuru business park

4.        The Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium at the Mamboleo ASK ground

5.        Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Complex

6.        Inland Container Depot at Kibos and

7.        400kv power project by Ketraco.

In his tour, Uhuru will also commission a marine school in Kisumu.

According to the Kenya Railways Corporation, the Nakuru-Kisumu railway line is on its final touches.

“After the launch, Kenya Railways will
announce the dates when passenger services would commence. Therefore, the
citizens will be aware of the time our op-
erations start and tariffs,” said KRC boss Umudho Awita.

The railway line is expected to open business opportunities in the Nyanza region as they will not only run passenger business but also cargo.

On Monday, May 24, ODM leader Raila Odinga toured the region to inspect the handshake projects and the preparedness for the Madaraka day celebrations.

In the short visit, Raila held a rally at Kondele where he promised residents that BBI raggae will resume shortly.

“Do not be worried about what is happening in the courts. We will ensure the issue is sorted out so that we proceed to a referendum.”

“Even in the Bible Ayub was tempted by the devil. We must not lose hope because in the end, we will defeat the enemies of the reform agenda because nobody can stop reggae, ” Raila assured Kisumu residents.
