by Amos Khaemba

Amani National Congress party of Musalia Mudavadi has suffered a blow as Lugari MP Ayub Savula officially quits the party.

The lawmaker, who has officially decamped to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) associated with Eugene Wamalwa.

On Sunday, January 22, DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi, its secretary-general Eseli Simiyu, Defense Cabinet Secretary received Savula at the party headquarters Chui house.

“We are glad to welcome ANC deputy party leader and Lugari MP Ayub Savula officially to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) at Chui house” the party confirmed on its Twitter page.

The defection by Savula is a continuation of defections by ANC legislatures leaving Mudavadi open to ridicule by his opponents for lack of numbers.

Savula who has been at lock head with the party over its association with One Kenya Alliance had last year announced his support for Azimio la Umoja of Raila Odinga.

DAP-K has recently raided both ANC and Ford Kenya party of Moses Wetangula since its formation which has rattled the two parties as the fight for Western voting block intensifies.

” We are putting down firm structures and measures to ensure we form the Bungoma and Trans Nzoia governments in August,” DAP-K party leader Wamunyinyi said.

Musalia Mudavadi is expected to launch his presidential bid, tomorrow Sunday, January 23 at Bomas of Kenya during ANC’s National Delegates Conference.

Simon Gikuru, the ANC secretary-general who spoke to the press during the inspection tour of Bomas, revealed that Mudavadi will use the NDC to unveil his manifesto.

“It is going to be the mother of all campaigns. I cannot be afraid to say that tomorrow we are also expecting to have a mother of all delegates’ congress. We are going to launch our manifesto which is anchored on five pillars. Musalia has come to a decision that let no one choose friends for us. We will witness an earthquake,” Gikuru said.
