Machakos governor claims Kalonzo Musyoka has demanded 3 billions to join Azimio

by Amos Khaemba

Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua has sensationally claimed the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has demanded Ksh 3 billion for him to join Azimio la Umoja ahead of the August 9 General Election.

Speaking on Saturday, February 12, at Maanzoni Lodge after holding a consultative meeting with the professional, business community, and other leaders, they vowed that no Ukambani leader will derail their plan to support ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Governor Mutua joined Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) in challenging the Wiper leader to join the Azimio la Umoja freely without setting conditions.

“We know that it is not that they are waiting to think first before they join Azimio, but they are waiting for money. We already know that they have demanded Sh3 billion,” Mutua said.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said Kalonzo has developed a tendency of auctioning the Kamba community for his own personal interests.

“I have evidence that earlier years, they also demanded money. They have asked for money several times and they were given, ” he added.

The Wiper leader has on several occasions ruled out supporting the ODM leader Rila Odinga for the third time saying it’s high time Raila reciprocated by supporting him.

Through their joined statement, the three governors said the Kamba community will no longer be in the opposition yet they have enough numbers to influence the outcome of an election

“The Ukambani professionals have said a time has reached for our people to have a good life. We fought for our people to have a good life. We fought for democracy to benefit from fruits of devolution,” Mutua said.

“Kamba community has been out of government as a community for over 10 years. We are ready to work with people who are ready to work towards improving Kenyans’ lives,” Machakos governor added.

The governors further ruled out the possibility of Kalonzo Musysoka negotiating on behave of the community, saying it is only professionals who will be tasked with identifying persons to be considered for appointments.

“This is to show that our community has gotten the way and the way is Azimio. When we get to Raila’s government, these professionals will take a list for our people to benefit since they know talents within the community,” Kibwana said.
