Rivalry biting Makueni Governor against the Kalonzo Musyoka has resurfaced in the newly formed Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

The traditional bitter rivalry biting Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana against the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has resurfaced in the newly formed Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition as Kibwana finds it difficult to work with the Wiper leader.

Through a post on his social media accounts on Wednesday, April 19, Kibwana alleged that Kalonzo has forced him to quit from his position within the Azimio-One Kenya coalition structure.

Kibwana said that ever since Kalonzo joined Azimio all has not been well, especially in the Ukambani region.

The governor alleged that the former vice-president wanted him removed from any leadership within the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

The professor stated that he had no option but to bow to Kalonzo’s pressure but wished the ODM leader Raila Odinga well.

“It is proving impossible to work with Kalonzo Musyoka in Azimio-One Kenya coalition in Ukambani. After he joined us, he has wanted especially me out of all Azimio structures.

“I have no choice but to be at peace with this sad reality. History will ultimately judge all of us. May it be kind Raila Odinga,” Kibwana wrote on Facebook.

The sentiment by Kibwana come days after he called on the Wiper leader to embrace inclusivity in the Azimio-OKA coalition.

“Kalonzo should embrace inclusivity, not a three-legged philosophy… Winning elections is about numbers. Let all political parties that genuinely support Raila be welcome in the coalition and campaign for Azimio,” Kibwana said last week.

Kalonzo Musyoka and his allies have been against the push of small parties especially those from Ukambani to be incorporated in the Azimio Governing Council.

Ukambani governors comprising Kibwana (Makueni), Ngilu (Kitui), and Mutua (Machakos) have had a frosty relationship with the Wiper leader.

Recently Kitui Senator Enock Wambua accused the three governors of attempting to derail the presidential ambition of the former vice-president by opposing his intention to be named Raila Odinga’s presidential running mate.
