Makueni governor warns Kalonzo Musyoka against giving Raila demands

by Amos Khaemba
Rivalry biting Makueni Governor against the Kalonzo Musyoka has resurfaced in the newly formed Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has warned the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka against giving demands before joining Azimio la Umoja led by Raila Odinga.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, February 25, Kibwana said the Wiper leader is a latecomer to Azimio and should bring demands that might cause confusion.

The Makueni governor pointed out that his other Ukambani governors have no problem working with the former vice-president in Azimio.

“As the governors of Ukambani, we started campaigning for Azimio and we do not have a problem with wiper joining us. Let them know that they have come late and they should sit on seats for the latecomers.

“Let them not come and start giving demands that they want the front seats yet we have been working all along. We do not want confusion,” Kibwana said.

At the same time, Kibwana said the Wiper should not waste time as other OKA principals already subscribe to the Azimio movement.

“Kalonzo’s political oxygen is Azimio. After Musalia and Wetang’ula left OKA, it became just Wiper. Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo are sympathetic to Raila…I wish Stephen could amicably follow his governor colleagues into Azimio,” Kibwana wrote on Twitter.

The sentiments by the Makueni governor come after Kalonzo said that he has officially initiated talks to join Azimio la Umoja led by Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9 General Election.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, February 25, One Kenya Alliance (OKA) stated that they have made up their mind in joining Jubilee and ODM parties to form a formidable coalition to face off the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

According to the statement by the OKA team, they would want their coalition with Raila to be renamed to incorporate One Kenya Alliance.

“The One Kenya Alliance wishes to inform Kenyans that it has officially initiated open and structured dialogue with like-minded political formations- namely the Jubilee coalition and the ODM party,

“We are open to the formation of a Grand Coalition to be known as the Azimio – One Kenya Alliance that shall be anchored on three equal pillars,” Kalonzo said.
