Makueni governor warns Raila Odinga against trusting Kalonzo

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has warned Raila Odinga to be careful in dealing with Kalonzo Musyoka saying he cannot be trusted.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has warned the ODM leader Raila Odinga to be careful in dealing with Kalonzo Musyoka saying the Wiper leader cannot be trusted.

In a long Facebook post on Monday, May 9, Kibwana alleged that Kalonzo’s ultimate plan is to cause division within Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

The Makueni governor called on the top Azimio leadership led by President Uhuru and Raila Odinga to act swiftly to rescue Azimio before it is late.

“Azimio must not continue to watch its house burn and not do something about it,” Kibwana started.

According to Kibwana, the Wiper leader had no intention of joining the Azimio team because ever since he joined, he has not actively campaigned for the ODM leader.

“It is clear Wiper was never in Azimio. Evidently, it has no intention of joining Azimio. Up to now, the party has never campaigned for Raila in Ukambani. Only the three Ukambani governors did so and raised Raila’s popularity in the region to about 65 percent” he said.

Sentiments by the Makueni governor come after Kalonzo and his close allies continued with their threat of abandoning Raila if he does not pick the former vice president as his running mate for the forthcoming August elections.

“Odinga has a responsibility of picking Musyoka as his running mate because the Kamba community has stood by him for a long. If Musyoka is not picked as Mr Odinga’s running mate, we shall ditch Azimio,” Kitui Senator Enock Wambua said during the church event at Wote Town yesterday.

On this part, Kibwana has termed the strategy being employed by the Wiper leader as blackmail warning the former prime minister not to fall to Kalonzo’s tricks.

“Where on earth does a potential running mate blackmail a presidential candidate to be made a deputy by attacks, abuse, vitriol, confrontation, and guile? In which democracy?” he posed.

“Such a strategy is deployed where one knows they may not qualify but wants to build sympathy among a section of the electorate,” Kibwana added.
