Raila Odinga has been overtaken by Ruto as the most preferred presidential candidate in the latest opinion poll.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has vowed to challenge William Ruto’s win in the just concluded presidential election.

On Monday, August 15, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua as the President and Deputy President-elect.

In the results announced, William Ruto got 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49% of the final vote while former Prime Minister Raila Odinga got 6,942,930 translating to 48.85%.

But the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party flag bearer said the presidential election results declared by the country’s electoral chairman were “null and void.”

“What we saw yesterday was a travesty and a blatant disregard of the constitution of Kenya by Chebukati,” Odinga said at a press conference at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Tuesday, August 16.

Supporters of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party have exuded confidence that Raila will overturn Ruto’s win which four out of the seven IEBC commissioners disowned the same results.

Speaking to TV 47 on Friday, August 19, a Raila Odinga die-hard said he was confident that Raila will get justice at the Supreme Court.

Khalif Omar, who hails from Kajiado said he knew Raila for many years and that Kenya’s longest-serving opposition leader won the election.

He said he was ready to slaughter a camel and at least 25 goats should the Apex Court nullify William Ruto as the president-elect.

“Mimi bado niko na matumaini baba (Raila odinga) atashinda mbele ya mahakam. Nimetayarisha ngamia mmoja na mbuzi 25 ambao nitachinja kusherehekea ikiwa makahama ya upeo yatabadilisha ushindi wa William Ruto,”

“I still have hope that father (Raila Odinga) will win before the court. I have prepared one camel and 25 goats that I will slaughter to celebrate if the extreme shifts change William Ruto’s victory,” he said.
