Martha Karua tells Ruto going to church won’t take him to heaven

by Amos Khaemba

Deputy President William Ruto has often accused his main opponent in the 2022 presidential election, Raila Odinga, and his running mate Martha Karua of not trusting in the existence of God.

In many of his public pronouncements, Ruto blasted the ODM leader for criticizing his frequent Church contribution saying the latter does not understand the value of believing in God.

At one point Ruto called on Kenyans to elect the Kenya Kwanza alliance saying the alliance is more God-fearing compared to the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party.

Speaking in Murang’a County on Friday, June 17, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential running mate reminded DP Ruto that not all who call Jesus by name will go to heaven.

“Kwa wale wanaharibu kujionyesha kama wako karibu na mungu kuliko wengi, wajue yakwamba yesu alisema sio wale wanaomuita Yesu Yesu pekee yake wataona usima wa binguni,” Karua said.

Loosely translated to, “Those trying to prove that they are closer to God than others, should know that Jesus said not all that call him by name will see heaven.

According to the Narc-Kenya leader, Christianity is not measured by how frequently one goes to church but through action.

“Pia kuwa mkristo sio Jina na sio kuingia kanisa, ni vitendo. Ukiwa mkrito tenda mambo yako kama mkristo.( let me know that being a Christian is not just in a name and going to churches…Christianity is seen in action)” She added.

Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential running mate advised Kenyans to elect their leaders by looking at their actions and not by claims that they are Godly.

Speaking early this year DP Ruto claimed that he stopped associating with him after he realized the ODM leader does not love God.

“I don’t have a problem with him, I even helped him become prime minister. When I realized that he does not love God, I left him alone,” Ruto said.
