Meru governor reveals why Jubilee party is afraid of William Ruto

by Nderi Caren

Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has said that the top leadership of the Jubilee Party is afraid of Deputy President Willaim Ruto’s possible presidency.

In his book named ‘Beyond Politics’ Kiraitu Murungi detailed the Jubilee leadership is fighting Ruto because they consider him a strong dictatorial character who can do anything to access or retain power.

“They are afraid of what he might do once in power. He could be another Moi (former President Daniel Moi), Robin Hood, or Adolf Hitler who must be stopped at all costs,” the Meru governor wrote in his book.

Before the launch of his book on Monday, July 12, the Meru governor had given his two cents on the status of the Jubilee party.

Kiraitu Murungi further affirmed that DP Ruto’s only mistake was to declare his interest in the presidency and to pose as the saviour of the people (through his hustelr narrative).

“If you quarrel with your boss, you become a leper and people avoid you. You are politically dead even to your friends. Nobody picks calls from the dead (Ruto),” he said.

In the book, Kiraitu said that Ruto is on the top of the political game, but he needs to adjust his list of friends to fit in the current political terrain.

Before the launch of his book on Monday, July 12, the Meru governor had given his two cents on the status of the Jubilee party.

Being a key founder of the party, Kiraitu now describes it as clueless, rudderless, planless and disorganized.

“The (Jubilee) party is full of horror stories only told in private, behind closed doors. Jubilee is involved in a terrible orgy of suicides, fratricides and infanticides,” he said.

The Meru governor joins the list of other Jubilee members who have stated that the party has collapsed.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and his Nakuru counterpart Lee Kinyanjui have been on the record, calling for changes in Jubilee leadership in order to give it life.

Even though other members are for the idea of pumping new energy to resuscitate it, Kiraitu Murungi holds the opinion that Jubilee is done and dusted. Hence it should be buried.
