Miguna Miguna demands Raila produces degree certificate before clearance to face Ruto

by Amos Khaemba
Miguna, an ally-turned fierce critic of the opposition leader said Raila was only interested in being the Luo’s kingpin adding that his sixth stab at the presidency is already predictable.

Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna has challenged the 2022 presidential frontrunner Raila Odinga to produce the original copy of his university degree certificate before clearance to vie for the presidency in August 2022

The outspoken lawyer called on Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to make public the original copy of Raila’s university credentials before clearing him.

“To Wafula Chebukati: Before you clear… Raila Odinga to run for president, can you publish the original copy of his degree certificate from a university recognized in Kenya? Not graduation booklets. Not citations. Just a genuine degree.” Miguna Miguna said in a social media post on Tuesday, May 31.

Miguna Miguna a former chief of staff of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer has previously questioned the academic records of his former boss.

“He was a lab technician. During the Cold War, degrees from the Eastern Block were not recognized in Kenya. To become an engineer with a purported degree in engineering from East Germany, Raila would have to have studied engineering at the UoN and he didn’t.” Miguna Miguna said in 2019.

But as the outspoken lawyer insists on Raila producing a degree certificate, it’s worth noting that the former prime minister who is making his fifth attempt at the presidency has been on record saying he has a degree in mechanical engineering.

On his website, Rao.co.ke, which details personal and public facts about the long-serving opposition leader Raila Odinga is said to have begun his primary school at Kisumu Union Primary.

After excelling in his primary studies, he was offered a chance at Maranda High School, one of Kenya’s top-performing national schools.

He studied at Maranda until 1962 when his father transferred him to Germany.

While in the European nation, Raila Odinga learned german at the Herder institution for two years.

Then, in 1965, he secured a scholarship at the Technical School in Magdeburg, graduating five years later with a diploma (German for bachelor’s degree) in mechanical engineering and welding.

It was reported that thanks to Raila Odinga’s Kenyan citizenship, he was able to bring his friends some extra goods not available in East Berlin from West Germany.
