A woman claiming to be former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko’s girlfriend has sued the flamboyant politician demanding monthly upkeep of KSh 448,450.
According to court documents filed at the magistrate court in Ngong on Monday, May 23, the woman now wants the Mombasa gubernatorial hopeful compelled to pay school fees of KSh 86,000.
She is further demanding another KSh 30,450 to cater for school-related expenses and uniforms and provide medical cover and upkeep for the girl.
Through lawyer Dan Okemwa, the woman whose identity has been withheld for the minor’s dignity said her 15-year-old daughter, a form two student has not reported back to school since the term began.
“Sonko and I are the biological parents of the minor herein,” the woman said.
She said the politician known for his generous contributions to other children has for the last three years withdrawn his support towards her daughter.
“Sonko has always been defiant and brazen to accept responsibility and assist me with the maintenance of the minor,
“He has over the years willfully withdrawn support towards the maintenance of the minor thus denying her what is rightfully hers and forcing me to take full responsibility for the minor,” she said.
She states that she met Sonko in 1999 and entered into a relationship that shortly turned into a romantic one.
That she last met with Sonko four years ago at Maanzoni where he gave her KSh 100,000 for the minor’s school fees and rent.
The lady further accused the gubernatorial hopeful of evading a DNA test to prove that he is the biological father of the daughter. “I have always been willing to have it done.
