Gatundu MP Moses Kuria has blamed UDA after his candidate in the Kiagu ward by-elections was disqualified by IEBC.

On Thursday, September 23, IEBC announced that Milton Mwenda of Chama Cha Kazi will not be allowed to contest for the October 14 by-election.

While announcing the disqualification of Moses Kuria’s candidate, IEBC said that Milton failed to resign as a public officer within the stipulated time.

“The Committee found the two failed to resign as public officers within the legally provided timeline of 7 days after the declaration of the vacancy.

Chama Cha Kazi party has been given the option of nominating another candidate within 72 hours to contest in the by-election,” read a statement from IEBC.

However, Moses Kuria has named UDA members as the reason why his candidate was disqualified by IEBC.

“Today the IEBC has disqualified the Chama Cha Kazi candidate for Kiagu By-Election Milton Mwenda Kabobo following a petition by the South Imenti UDA Coordinator Salesio Mutuma Thuranira,

The party has been asked to submit a replacement candidate. We are dissatisfied with this decision and we will move to the High Court first thing tomorrow morning to challenge this decision,” Moses Kuria wrote on his social media page.

The accusations comes at a time when Moses Kuria is at loggerheads with UDA members due to his divided loyalty to their party and at the same time his Chama Cha Kazi outfit.

Moses Kuria has dismissed calls to fully join UDA, promising to front candidates in all electoral positions except the presidency, where he will support William Ruto.

It is not the first time Moses Kuria is at loggerheads with UDA over by-elections.

Before the Kiambaa by-elections, Moses Kuria fell out with UDA leadership after he was asked to drop his candidate on the People Empowerment Party and support UDA candidate.

It took the intervention of DP William Ruto to calm the storm.
