Moses Kuria: Kenya will be safe with Martha Karua as Deputy President

by Enock Ndayala

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has come out to insist Kenya is only safe in the hands of NARC- Kenya party leader Martha Karua as Deputy President of Kenya come 2022.

In an interview on Citizen TV on Sunday, November 7, 2021, Kuria said Karua is the perfect running-mate in 2022 who can balance out the risk factor posed by some of the know 2022 presidential contenders.

“All these people (Kalonzo, Musalia, Ruto, Raila) are a risk to this country. The de-risking factor is Martha Karua. We are safe in the hands of Martha Karua as Deputy President,” went on the outspoken legislator.

In a recent survey by Mizani Africa, Martha Karua emerged top among senior Mt Kenya politicians as the best running mate option to any presidential aspirant.

She is however on record saying she would easily work as deputy president under Raila Odinga but never under current Deputy President Wiliam Ruto whom she believes is least qualified to lead Kenya.

According to Kuria if by any chance one of the top presidential candidates is elected President, the former Justice minister is the ideal person to keep them on track as the Deputy President.

The Outspoken legislator argued Karua has the experience to be a running mate, given her exposure in the country’s politics, adding Kenyans should not let that experience do down the drain.

“Why let Martha’s experience go down the drain? She can tell us about the Serena Talks, Koffi Annan, the clamour for multiparty politics, or her time as the Minister for Justice, that is experience,” Kuria said.

The recent endorsements by Kuria come as a surprise given their past sour relationship where in 2017, Karua won a KSh.6.5 million in a case where she had sued Kuria for defamation.

Karua has so far declared her interest in the Kirinyaga Gubernatorial seat, where she is expected to face the incumbent Anne Waiguru and current Woman representative of the county, Purity Ngirichi.
