Outspoken Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has said the Kikuyu nation needs its own political party so it can easily negotiate with 2022 presidential hopefuls.
Speaking to K24 TV, on Sunday, August 15, Kuria revealed that it will be hard for the GEMA region to politicians like former Prime Minister Raila Odinga if they don’t have their own political party.
Kuria said such a party will see the Kikuyu nation foster deeper working relationships with Luo community without necessarily voting for Raila Odinga.

“What Kikuyus are asking is can’t we be friends with Raila Odinga without us voting for him as the president?
“We can look for other forms of coexistence between Kikuyus and Luos without having the condition of voting for Raila,” Kuria said.
Last week, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, The Service Party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and Moses Kuria associated with Chama Cha Kazi announced plans to form an inter-parties forum for the vote-rich GEMA community to push for the region’s political unity.
In a joint statement read by Martha Karua, the leaders said that their main agenda was to push for the interests of the people of Mt Kenya region irrespective of their political affiliations.
Karua said the formation of an inter-party forum will not force other parties to fold but they will reach out to all political parties with a presence in the Mt Kenya region to work with them on taking the region to the negotiating table ahead of the crucial 2022 General Election.
“We also commit to reaching out to other like-minded leaders to broaden the forum and deepen our unity of purpose,” she said.
The region which is heading into a General Election without a formidable presidential candidate needs to be united so that they will form part of the government that will be formed after the 2022 General Election.
