Moses Kuria: Raila has better chance winning Mt Kenya without Uhuru’s support

by Enock Ndayala

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has sensationally claimed that ODM leader Raila Odinga stands a better chance of winning the vote-rich Mt Kenya region without President Uhuru’s support.

In an interview with KTN News on Wednesday, March 9, the Chama Cha Kazi party leader argued that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime had lost its grasp on the mountain over the last ten years, a move he said is a setback for Raila who was recently endorsed by the head of state.

“My good friend Raila Odinga has a better chance in Mt Kenya without the support of the Jubilee party,” Kuria said.

Kuria who recently announced plans to unseat Kiambu Governor James Nyoro in the forthcoming elections further opined that the majority of the GEMA region wants to follow their own path.

He said since the advent of multiparty democracy in 1992, the Mt Kenya region has never been held by anyone and that they will follow their own path even in the August 9, General Election.

“In all six voting cycles starting from 1992 up to 2017, the people (Mt Kenya region) have been following their own path. They are investors and they are not held by anyone,” Kuria said.

The outspoken legislator further faulted Raila’s decision to join forces with the ruling outfit saying it has diminished his chances of securing the Mt Kenya region votes.

He said the former prime minister would easily become the next tenant of the house on the hills without incorporating the current government since it has failed the region, which has over the years decided on who becomes the president.

“There is a post-traumatic stress disorder caused by the Jubilee and its errors of commission and omission over the last nine years. Jubilee reminds people of the worst,” Kuria stated.
