Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria have in the recent past been firing salvos at each other.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, October 5, chaired his first Cabinet since President Ruto reshuffled his Cabinet.

The meeting that was held at his official residence in Karen saw only 11 Cabinet Secretaries present.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, Njugun Ndung’u (Treasury), Eliud Owalo (ICT), Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport) Susan Nakhumicha (Health), and Ezekiel Machogu (Education) were among those who attended.

Others were Soipan Tuya (Environment), Florence Bore (Labor), Aden Duale (Defence), Simon Chelugui (Cooperatives), and Penina Malonza (East Africa Community).

Kivumbi.co.ke has learned that only one Cabinet Secretary of the eight that were reshuffled attended the meeting.

Only Penine Malonza who was moved from the Tourism docket to the East Africa Community attended the meeting convened by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Notably among those who missed the meeting include the now Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.

As the second in command convened the meeting, Kuria was in Garissa County launching an industrial park.

The move by Kuria to snub the meeting happened just hours after President William Ruto had transferred him from the Trade and Industrialization Ministry to that of Public Service.

After the reshuffle, Kuria took to his official social media pages pointing accusing fingers at the deputy president for orchestrating his removal from the Trade docket.

In a statement, the deputy president said the meeting resolved to fast-track the implementation of government projects.

“At Karen official residence today, I chaired a Cabinet Sub-Committee to align our inter-ministerial targets and objectives for the quicker realization of the President’s agenda,

“We are keen on faster and more effective implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda as directed by President William Ruto,” DP Gachagua said.
