Sirisia MP John Waluke has asked Deputy President William Ruto to let his arch-rival Raila Odinga be the president just days after quitting the Kenya Kwanza brigade.
Waluke who is at the center of the Ksh 297 million National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) said the 55-year-old deputy president, was still young and hence could wait until Odinga, 77, completes two five-year terms before contesting the country’s top seat.
“The DP is still young and can wait until Raila is done with his term to contest the presidency,” the legislator said.
Waluke who was speaking at Sinoko PEFA church in Matulo ward in Webuye West constituency, Bungoma County, Waluke urged the locals to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner.
Waluke who claimed that he had been appointed to lead Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya in the Western region exuded confidence that he will deliver the second-largest voting bloc to Raila.
“I was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to lead the Azimio team in the entire Western region and I will deliver as agreed,” he claimed.
Last month, the lawmaker ditched the Kenya Kwanza brigade for Raila Azimio la Umoja stating that he could not work with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula.
While exiting Ruto’s camp, Waluke who had become Ruto’s key ally in Bungoma, said he better go to hell than sharing a path with Ford Kenya’s leader to heaven.
“If we were on a path that leads us to heaven and I happen to see him (Wetang’ula) in our midst, I would rather take a different route even if it takes me to hell,” said Waluke.
Waluke was found guilty of defrauding National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) KSh 290 million alongside Grace Wakhangu, his co-director at Erad Supplies Company.
