In an interview with Spice FM on Tuesday, January 25, the Lugari MP said that Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta convened a high-profile meeting with ODM leader Raila Odinga and One Kenya Alliance principals Musalia Mudavadi, Gideon Moi, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Moses Wetang’ula.

The former ANC deputy party leader categorically stated that the meeting had crafted a deal to have Musalia Mudavadi as Raila Odinga’s running mate in the August 9, 2022, General Election.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi had been promised to be ODM leader Raila Odinga’s running mate in the upcoming General Election, Lugari MP Ayub Savula has revealed.

“Uhuru called the first meeting with all the big five; Musalia, Raila, Kalonzo, Wetang’ula, and Gideon Moi, Musalia has appended his signature to a document which only president Uhuru Kenyatta has its original copy. They had agreed to field a single presidential candidate, ODM inclusive,

“Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa and I later held a meeting with Raila in Karen and agreed that Musalia was going to be Raila’s running mate,” Savula revealed during an interview with Spice FM.

The vocal legislator who recently joined the DAP-K party further claimed that the deal would see the vote-rich Mt Kenya region which has been seeking the deputy slot given 50 percent of the government positions.

“We were to assign Tinga (Raila) to negotiate with Uhuru to give the central community 50 percent of the government positions because the central community is demanding the second slot. And we agreed with Tinga, Eugene Wamalwa, and me,” Savula added.

Savula however stated that while he kept on convincing Mudavadi to take up the deal, the former Sabatia MP repeatedly told him to go slow on the deal while he (Musalia) was secretly negotiating with Deputy President William Ruto.

“He (Mudavadi) was sending agents to negotiate with William Ruto while he was lying to us on the other hand,” Savula stated.
