On Thursday, April 6, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya constituted a seven-member team to face President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza side in the scheduled bi-partisan talks.

The seven-member team comprises four Members of Parliament and three Senators.

Among those who were picked are Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and his Narok and Kitui counterparts Ledama Ole Kina and Enoch Wambua respectively.

Others picked were MPs Amina Mnyanzi (Malindi), Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), David Pkosing (Pokot South), and Otiende Amollo (Rarieda).

Notably missing from the list was Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.

In a statement shortly, the vocal legislator called out opposition leader Raila Odinga for excluding the youths in the team fronted to face the government side.

Owino who was on the frontline in the just suspended anti-government protests alleged that youths ought to have featured in the line-up.

He said youths were teargassed during the weekly protests and needed not to be left out so that they can express their opinions in the dialogue with Kenya Kwanza’s side.

“A team has been set up to Represent Azimio in the Bipartisan talks. I wish them well. However, it would have been more effective and efficient if a youth was part of the team because it’s the youth who are killed, maimed and still at the forefront in the struggle,” Babu Owino said in a tweet.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko endorsed Babu Owino’s remarks claiming that it was unfair or Raila to exclude Embakasi East MP in the bi-partisan talks.

Sonko in a stamen asked Raila to be loyal to Babu just the way he was loyal to him during the weekly protests.

“It is not fair to leave Babu Owino out of the committee the way he has braced teargas to support you in protests. Be loyal Baba (Raila Odinga),” Sonko said.
