MP Didmus Barasa asks police to arrest Raila for using 22 government vehicles

by Amos Khaemba

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has changed the National Police ice Service to arrest the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga for having government vehicles instead of looking for him.

Police in Bungoma County had launched a manhunt for the Kimilili MP after he branded a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) vehicle with campaign posters.

But speaking in Tongareni on Wednesday, May 25, the outspoken legislator alleged that the former prime minister has at his disposal 22 government vehicles.
Barasa said the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition presidential flag bearer should be arrested first before other leaders are intimidated by the police.

“Yesterday, Police came to my home to impound a car they allege is a CDF Car, but they failed to go and arrest Raila since he has been free since 2017 when he committed treason, and even using government resources including cars and he was never elected to the office. They should apply the law equally,” Barasa said.

While defending the Kimilili MP, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula warned that the Kenya Kwanza alliance will not allow Barasa to be harassed before action is taken on the former prime minister for using government resources.

Am telling the government, before touching on Didmus Barasa, go and take the government vehicles you have allocated Raila Odinga, including the helicopter he is using” Wetang’ula said.

It is reported that the vocal legislator took a National Government/Constituency Development Fund vehicle for Kimilili Constituency and branded it in United Democratic Alliance (UDA) colors. TheUDA is a party heavily linked to Deputy President William Ruto.

The Tanga tanga politician further changed the registration particulars of the vehicle from GK944J to KBS 709D.

“In a joint operation involving the Government Check Unit officers from Nairobi, Serious Crimes personnel, and DCI officers from Nairobi and Kimilili, the contingent raided the homestead of Barasa following a tip-off and towed the vehicle to Kimilili police station and later to Bungoma before heading to Nairobi,” a security official told kivumbi.co.ke.
