MP Didmus Barasa on why Raila cannot be compared to Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa now says ODM leader Raila Odinga cannot be compared to Deputy President William Ruto.

This comes at a time when the 2022 presidential race appears to be narrowing between the two political foes William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

In a video posted on his social media pages on Monday, November 29, the vocal Tanga Tanga MP said unlike the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the deputy president has never lost an election.

“Never compare deputy president William Ruto with Raila Odinga. The deputy president has never lost an election, Raila has lost for the last 25 years,” Barasa said in a Tweet.

Apart from the deputy president having a track record as claimed by Barasa, the legislator said the former Prime Minister in known to be protesting election results.

He further stated that William Ruto and Raila Odinga believe in two different religions.

“The deputy president believes in God, Tinga (Raila Odinga) believes in black magic. William Ruto has a proven track record! Raila is known to complain about every government,” he stated.

This comes at a time when William Ruto and Raila Odinga who are perceived to be the front runners in the race to succeed retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta are crisscrossing the country to popularise their ambitions.

Recently, Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Shollei accused the opposition leader of doing nothing to grow his political career, unlike his competitor William Ruto.

Shollei who was appearing on Citizen TV said that William Ruto’s career on the other hand has been on an upward trajectory.

“Recycling is when a leader attempts the same position all the time and never succeeds, Raila Odinga is an example, 5 times trying the presidency and has never won it. (Wiliam) Ruto’s career has been an upward trajectory that is not recycling, it is growth,” she said.
