Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has claimed his life is in danger days after ditching One Kenya Alliance for Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja.

“It was easy for one to forget to take extra precautions because I was thirsty and this could have turned fatal for me,” the MP told the Star.

Onyonka who has expressed his interest in the Kisii Senatorial race in the 2022 elections linked the failed attempt to take his life to his political stand.

“There are some shadowy figures that are unhappy with the position I have taken on some issues, especially graft. These are the thieves I suspect are after me,” he said.

The legislator who recently said he will not quit politics until Raila becomes President however said he will not be intimidated in fighting for justice and defending public resources even if it will cost him his life.

“I would not slow down soon if defending public resources from being plundered is what is driving my enemies to hunt me with poison,” he said.

Last month, Onyonka ditched Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula’s party for ODM saying he believes in voting for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner Raila Odinga.

“I defected, I am no longer the party leader. I am no longer a party leader in Ford Kenya. I actually relinquished my position two weeks ago when the party held its National Delegates Conference (NDC). I couldn’t stay in Ford Kenya when I actually believe in Raila (Odinga),” Onyanka said.
