Mpee chenye anataka: Millicent Omanga sympathizes with Kalonzo Musyoka

by Amos Khaemba

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has pleaded with the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition to name the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka the presidential running mate to the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, April 28, Omanga expressed his views saying it appears the former Vice President is going through a lot of frustrations over his bid as the presidential running mate to Raila Odinga.

Omanga implored the Azimio team to sympathize with the Wiper leader and give him what wants.

“Seems Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is going through a lot on the other side of the Isle. Si wampe to change Karnataka yawa!” Omanga wrote on Twitter.

Omanga joins Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula had earlier advised Kalonzo against subjecting himself to the vetting process saying the Wiper leader will embarrass himself by doing so.

“Don’t subject yourself to humiliation, ridicule, and odium by being interrogated as to “suitability” for the same role/job,” Wetang’ula tweeted on Thursday.

The sentiment by the Kenya Kwanza leaders comes after Kalonzo expressed frustrations after being asked to apply for the running mate slot.

Speaking to KTN News on Thursday, April 28, Kalonzo who is eying to be Raila’s presidential running mate said he should not be coerced to apply for the Azimio’s running mate position when the ODM leader Raila Odinga did not apply to be the coalition’s flag bearer.

“If we were to tell each other the truth and everyone in our team knows the right thing to do. I do not understand why anyone would ask me to apply for the position of running mate. Did Raila apply to be the flag bearer?” Kalonzo posed.

On Wednesday ODM leader Raila Odinga established a 7 member panel to help in picking the best candidate to be considered for the presidential running mate slot.

The members of the panel appointed by Raila are; Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zaccheus Okoth, Senator Enock Wambua, Michael Orwa, Noah Wekesa, and Sheik Mohammed Khalifa, and Beatrice Moe.
