Mt Kenya residents who turned up in large numbers overpowered security officers to access Sagana Lodge, the venue for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s big meeting.

The turn-out is reported to have been more than that anticipated by the organizers which made security officers turn away those without invitation cards.

According to sources, the organizers were expecting around 6,000 guests to attend the highly anticipated meeting.

The move by security officers caused chaos outside Sagana State Lodge as thousands of Jubilee supporters who had been locked out of the venue tried to force their way in.

The commotion between officers and residents who did not have invitation cards lasted for hours until they overpowered the police officers and forced their way into the compound.

Sources revealed to Kivumbi.co.ke those police officers had a hectic time managing the huge number of residents looking forward to listening to their son, who is expected to among other things, officially endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency.

The Sagana 3, has turned out to be different from the previous meeting where only invited guests were allowed to attend the meeting.

During the Sagana 2, where President Uhuru, used the meeting to rally the mountain to support the BBI constitutional process, the attendance was only for invited delegates.

Unlike the previous Sagana gatherings, the media has been allowed to cover the Sagana 3 meeting in what is a deliberate way of ensuring Uhuru’s message reaches many people.

Political pundits opine that Sagana 3, is a deliberate move by the president to minimize the perceived influence of Deputy President William Ruto in the region.

It is highly expected that the head of state will use the Sagana meeting to officially launch an aggressive campaign for his handshake partner, the ODM leader Raila Odinga.
