Musalia Mudavadi angered by links to William Ruto ahead of 2022 elections

by Enock Ndayala

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has expressed dissatisfaction with some of his party members for linking him to William Ruto ahead of the 2022 General Election.

This comes barely a day after ANC deputy party leader and Lugari MP Ayub Savula accused Musalia of receiving money from Deputy President William Ruto so as to join United Democratic Alliance.

In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday, November 30, the presidential hopeful said utterances by persons purporting to hold office should be largely disregarded by media.

“Certain members have erroneously assigned themselves the position of Party Spokesperson and issued statements that have since been circulated by print and electronic media outlets,

“By this notice, we abrogate all utterances stated by Ayub Savula in a purported capacity of deputy party leader as circulated by the aforesaid media outlet,” Mudavadi said.

On Sunday, November 28, Savula, a close ally of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi claimed that a section of One Kenya Alliance (OKA) members have been holding secret meetings with William Ruto, a move he said has been causing a rift in the coalition.

“There are few individuals in the party who are creating the impression that we will join UDA,” he said, noting that a senator and two other MPs he did not mention are behind the scheme.

The legislator further claimed that “Members of the group receive KSh 50,000 each every week to create the impression that ANC is about to join UDA.”

Central Organization for Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli further raised similar allegations.

Atwoli, who was speaking during the burial of Jubilee secretary-general Raphael Tuju’s mother in Ndori, Siaya on Saturday, November 26, said some OKA leaders from western of receiving cash from Ruto to sabotage the region’s unity call.

“I have received information that some three legislators were each given KSh 3 million from William Ruto to champion for his interest in western,” Atwoli said without mentioning names.
