Musalia Mudavadi asks Raila to stop lying to Kenyans

Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has asked presidential hopeful Raila Odinga to stop lying to Kenyans as the ODM leader positions himself to be Kenya’s fifth president.

Speaking on Sunday, November 14, at the Quakers Friends International Centre on Ngong Road, Nairobi County, the former Vice president slammed Raila Odinga’s promise of a KSh 6,000-a-month stipend to poor families if he is elected.

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principal said the KSh 6,000 a month stipend promise is a lie to lure voters.

“I have heard some politicians promising a social welfare economy model by getting KSh 6, 000. My question is; where will they get this money? They are simply lying to voters for the sake of votes,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi who is warming up to be the One Kenya Alliance flagbearer stated that should the promise be implemented, then Kenyans should brace themselves for tough times as the taxes will likely be doubled to meet the costs.

“If their programs were to be implemented, they would force an increase in taxes,” he added.

With barely months to the 2022 General Election, the ANC leader warned Kenyans against electing some leaders whose campaign strategist is anchored on handouts bribery, and sweet words.

“As we approach the next general elections, we must give this country what is good, we must not be convinced by handouts, bribery, or by sweet words from politicians who promise you things that are practically impossible,” Mudavadi said.

During a tour of Turkana in October 2021, Raila said his plan to offer KSh 6,000 monthly stipends to poor families and the youth will go a long way in bridging the poverty gap.

Despite criticism from his competitors, Raila has several times insisted that his social welfare stipend for the jobless is feasible and will be funded by cash that has in the past been looted by the corrupt.

“Every family that has no income will receive KSh 6,000 every month. For those who say that it is a lie and that there is no money, I tell you to calm down and we will show you how it will be done,” Raila said.
