Amani National Congress (ANC) party nominated its party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, for the appointment as the Prime Cabinet Secretary in the yet-to-formed Kenya Kwanza government.

Mudavadi’s nomination by his party happened by the party’s Council Bureau on Wednesday, August 17.

“The Amani National Party has nominated its party leader Musalia Mudavadi for the appointment as the Prime Cabinet Secretary,” the party said in a statement.

Although the position is not outlined in the Kenyan Constitution 2010, Mudavadi exuded confidence that he will land the new position to be created through an Executive Order.

As such, the shortest of Kenya’s serving vice-presidents has already changed his official Twitter account to Prime Cabinet Secretary Designate.

“Welcome to my official Twitter handles Musalia Mudavadi Prime Cabinet Secretary Designate of the Republic of Kenya and ANC Party Leader,” Mudavadi’s official Twitter handle described.

Mudavadi and Wetang’ula had negotiated a pre-election pact with William Ruto to get a 30 percent share of the Kenya Kwanza government in the event the alliance wins the elections.

In the Kenya Kwanza power-sharing agreement, Mudavadi was promised the position of Chief Minister should Ruto be elected president.

His Ford Kenya counterpart and Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetang’ula was promised the Speaker of the Senate position in the event the Kenya Kwanza Alliance formed the government.

The 30 percent share was to come forth if the two deliver 70 percent of Western Kenya votes.

However, the position still hangs in the balance since the two politicians did not deliver the 70 percent Western region block to Kenya Kwanza as promised.

Mudavadi’s nomination happened just a day after IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati gazetted William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua as the President and Deputy President-elect respectively in the just concluded presidential elections.

Their gazettement happened the same day the national returning officer announced the controversial presidential results in which four of the IEBC commissioners disowned the results.
