Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has hit out at COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli warning him to stop hiding behind President Uhuru Kenyatta to insult other leaders.

Speaking in Kwisero, Kakamega County on Tuesday, February 8 during the Kenya Kwanza campaign, Mudavadi dared the outspoken unionist to face him directly.

“Stop hiding behind President Uhuru to abuse people, if you are man enough come and abuse me here and face directly but don’t hide behind the president,” Mudavadi said as the crowd cheered.

Mudavadi’s remarks come after the vocal unionist insulted the deputy president in front of President Uhuru, saying Ruto will commit suicide on August 9, after losing the election.

Less than three weeks ago, Atwoli labeled Mudavadi and Wetang’ula as “beaded wives” while responding to ‘bibi wa mzee wa nyororo’ remarks by DP Ruto.

Mudavadi also warned Atwoli to stop taking credit for his political journey saying he has contributed nothing is his long career in politics.

A visibly agitated Mudavadi reminded Atwoli that he has been in politics since 1989 where he has worked as a minister in various ministries even as the vice-president without the support of the COTU boss

“I want to tell our old man from our region. I want to tell Atwoli, Atwoli, please, please Atwoli you did not make me a politician, you did not bring me into politics, you have contributed nothing to my success or my failures, leave me alone,” Mudavadi said.

Since Mudavadi joined DP Ruto, Atwoli has been frequently attacking him even claiming that he used Ksh 200 million to install Mudavadi as the Mulembe spokesperson in 2017.
