Mudavadi: President Uhuru called first cabinet meeting in 2 years to fool Kenyans

by Enock Ndayala

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has poked holes in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet meeting convened on Thursday, May 12, where William Ruto was in attendance.

Uhuru convened a full Cabinet meeting after more than a year. The last time President Kenyatta chaired the Cabinet meeting was on February 18, 2021, when they discussed Jubilee’s Big Four Agenda and Vision 2030 flagship projects.

Uhuru convened the Cabinet after the deputy president accused him of being the mastermind behind the plight Kenyans are currently going through.

Ruto in a statement posted on his Twitter challenged the head of state to immediately convene a Cabinet meeting to deliberate on how to solve the problems facing Kenyans assuring him that he will attend if invited.

“Boss, I am available.  Just a phone call away. Sadly the last cabinet was two years ago,” Ruto said in a Tweet.

But according to Mudavadi, Uhuru did not convene the meeting to solve challenges facing the country including skyrocketing fuel and fertilizer prices but to fool Kenyans.

Mudavadi further defended the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate for attending the meeting stating that Uhuru wanted to use the meeting to distance himself from the failures of the Jubilee administration and shift the blame to his deputy.

“Ruto ni mwerevu; hata wakiitisha Cabinet baada ya miaka miwili ili kujaribu kusafisha vitu, atajua vile atazungumza huko ili asihushwe na matope ya watu wengine. Huu ulikuwa mtego, walkuwa wanataka waseme tumeitisha Cabinet lakini yeye hakuja,”

“Ruto is clever and he knows that even when they convene a cabinet meeting after two years, he will still know how to carry himself so that he is not involved in other people’s mud. This was a trap. They were planning to say that he failed to attend but he did the opposite,” Mudavadi said.
