Mudavadi: We want to beat Raila Odinga in round one come August

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has said he joined Deputy President William Ruto so that they can defeat ODM leader Raila Odinga in round one.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has claimed that he joined Deputy President William Ruto so that they can defeat ODM leader Raila Odinga in round one in the upcoming presidential election.

Addressing the media after a church service at St Faith Parish, ACK in Rongai, on Sunday, January 30, Mudavadi maintained that his decision was well thought adding that it was the only option to avoid a run-off in the August 9, General Election.

“We want to take victory in the first round of the elections. Round one. Hatutaki kurudia, tunataka tushinde round one… Sasa kwa wale ambao wanababaika, waambie those are the effects of the earthquake na earthquake inaendelea,” Mudavadi said.

While defending his earthquake announcement, the former Sabatia MP said that he ditched the One Kenya Alliance where after the realisation that the coalition was a government project meant to puncture Ruto’s statehouse bid in round one.

The 2013 presidential loser further defended his decision to team up with Ruto saying it was well thought out after wide consultations within his party, ANC.

“As ANC party, we had broad consultations and we made our pronouncements in broad daylight and not at night that we were taking a different course. So, we did not betray anybody,” he said.

According to the constitution of Kenya 2010, a candidate shall be declared elected as President if the candidate gets 50%+1 of all presidential votes cast and at least 25% of the votes cast in each of more than half of the 47 counties in Kenya.
