Murkomen: Thank you Junet for reminding President Uhuru how we helped him

by Enock Ndayala

On Sunday, July 3, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed played controversial secret audio that captures Deputy President William Ruto admitting that he nearly slapped President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In the 90-second audio, the 2022 presidential front runner William Ruto was heard saying that he pushed Uhuru to participate in the repeat presidential election after losing a petition at the Supreme Court in 2017.

While the audio was played to taint the image of the Deputy President ahead of his titanic battle with Raila Odinga, the clip has turned out to be a poisoned chalice for Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party.

Taking to his Twitter, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen asked Junet Mohammed to keep on playing the audio to help the Ruto team remind President Uhuru how he was helped by his deputy helped him.

Murkomen said President Uhuru has a way of forgetting things very fast and asked the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition camp to also remind him of the promises he made in the build-up to 2013 and 2017 General Elections.

“Bwana Junet Mohamed please keep playing that audio everywhere. Huyo mtu tulimsaidia sana. He has a way of forgetting. Your effort may help refresh his memory” Murkomen said.

Uhuru had promised to support his deputy William Ruto in the 2022 presidential election but has since endorsed Ruto’s bitter rival, Raila Odinga.

Speaking during Raila Odinga’s rally in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay, Junet argued that the recording confirmed that the country would not be safe under the leadership of a man who would have the guts to slap a sitting president.

“They fought over issues of corruption and Ruto acting like he was a de facto president. After the election, he began approaching people like myself, telling us that Uhuru was bad and that we should impeach him,” the MP alleged.
